Look For Unity in Every Opportunity

When we look back at history we see that this country provides an opportunity for everyone who comes here.  The opportunity to have freedoms they may not have in the country that they came from.  The options to work, a country to have freedom of religion, a right to vote, or an opportunity to be treated equal are all things this country has to offer.  We are all children of God and are so blessed to have all we have where we live.

Yet with all that we have here, do we always make the most of every opportunity?  When we look at the word opportunity the word ends with the letters that spell out ‘unity’.  As a free country do we share every aspect of God’s love with all that we cross paths with?  Our journey is for us to love Him and in turn love others.  When we do this we have joy in our journey.

Philippians 2:1-4 (NKJV)

1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

God’s Word tells us to fulfill joy, we need to be like-minded and have the same love.  We need to see things as God sees them and love others.  We need to stand upon the promises of God and never compromise His Word or His love for us.  We love others when we stop to pray for them instead of criticize them.  We need to pray for every opportunity to love others and be in one accord.  Yet when we do not agree with them we need to stop and pray to seek His wisdom in what we are to learn.  He may want to show us where we need to grow.  Grow in His love, mercy and grace.                             We may learn we need to make an adjustment in our thinking.  We may need to evaluate how we presented our opinion.  We may just need to listen and not over-react.  When we put God first, then others next we will begin to see what He wants to show us.  He will show us we do not need to be selfish and we will become more Christ-like.  When we put interest in others first this is truly a blessing.

We are always a work in progress as individuals, as a community, and as a nation.  We are all God’s children and He wants to show us that when we put Him first, then others and we see how He wants us to get along then He gets all the glory!  When we put unity in every opportunity by putting God first we will be blessed and truly be all that we were created to be.

Hood County has a prayer meeting the second Monday of each month at a different church. We are praying for unity in the churches, in our town, and in our nation.  We all need to be in prayer and lifting our voices in one accord to our Heavenly Father that wants unity in all His children, so come be a part of a special hour of prayer.  You can find out where each prayer service is by email by contacting communityprayermeetings@orcuttfamily.net.
