Luke 23:34 (NKJV)
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots
As we see Jesus asking His Father to forgive those who put Him on the cross we need to learn. We need to truly see that Jesus is willing to forgive all. He is pleading for those that are persecuting Him. Are we willing to forgive those who hurt us?
Some hurt us intentionally yet we are to forgive them. We have some that hurt us on purpose and we are to forgive them. We have to forgive. Jesus told His disciples after teaching them how to pray that we are to forgive. To forgive someone for giving us pain and hurt can seem impossible. Yet we have to realize not only are we to forgive them we also need to pray for them.
The reason we pray for them is many times this is their way of crying out. Crying out in pain, crying out for attention, or crying out for the attention to not be on them, but upon you are many of the reasons for attacks. We have to pray for them because they may not know better or they may have drifted from the Lord and your prayer and forgiveness may lead them back to Jesus.
So next time someone attacks you do not let it be a reaction of revenge, but an act of love by showing forgiveness and praying.
