Mark 14:36 (NKJV)
And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
In Matthew Jesus teaches us how to pray through the Lord’s Prayer. In John we see how Jesus prays to the Father for Himself, then for the disciples, and then for all who will hear and that is all of us. In Mark we see how Jesus went to the Father in prayer to do the Father’s will for us. Jesus shows us the need for prayer and truly how it was needed for what was about to happen. His going to the cross for us is the greatest love gift ever by His going to the cross for our sins. Jesus was truly seeking the Father’s will.
How many times do we truly seek the Father’s will? We may at times go to God in prayer with expectations to get our desires in our timing from Him. God does answer prayers yet it is in His timing and results that He has for us to bless us and give Him the glory. Yet do we truly seek His will to receive and see what He has for us. We are all God’s children and He wants us to spend time with Him so He can show us how He wants to bless us.
So in spending time with Him with prayer we also need to spend time in His Word. We learn more about Him and who we are to become as He guides us in the Scriptures. We cannot just find the Scriptures that match what we want we have to see what He has to show us.
So pray to the One true living God, seek His guidance in His Word, then spend more time in prayer to see what He has to show you in His timing. Then praise Him for all He shows you and give Him all the glory.
