Colossians 3:12-17 (NKJV)
12Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
14But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Living to love one another and God at all times represents the letter “L” for us to live by. This becomes a true test for anyone. You might think that once you are a Christian it is easy to forgive and forget. Human nature does not allow for such things at all times. The key is being Christ-like at all times.
When we ask for forgiveness of our sins God lets them go. When we pray for forgiveness God is a loving Father who does not hold our past against us. If that were the case we could not even come into His presence. Through the grace and love of Jesus we are forgiven of our sins by simply confessing them. This is hard to understand, but it is true for we have all sinned and fall short of His glory (Romans 3:23).
The step that takes grace is our forgiving others as Christ forgave us. The enemy wants us to hold grudges against each other. The shield is important at this point to keep wedges from being formed against each other. God tells us never settle down for the night with any differences with one another. The longer we allow things to build in a negative way the harder it is to resolve. Regardless of how deep the love we should never allow differences to create problems. Some differences are easy to mend some just take a compromise. The easiest way to reconcile any difference is through prayer. Where two or more are gathered in His name He is present. God wants us to love one another just as He has loved us. The key is to forgive and let it go.
Do not bring up the past. The past can create things to be worse than they should ever be. Always remember to love one another. Patience and understanding are the part of love that can grow and be a difference maker in you. Allow God to do His work in you and through you.
