Hear Him

Matthew 17:5 (NKJV)
5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”

God tells us to listen to Jesus, do you? Do you spend time in prayer? In your prayer time do you just say the same prayer over and over? Is your prayer time just you doing all the talking? Your prayer time needs to be speaking, listening and reflecting. We do not always allow ourselves enough time to pray. Squeeze a prayer in at bedtime and we fall asleep. We may try to get up early, yet we hit the snooze button too many times. We make time for so may things, yet we do not always allow enough time to spend with Jesus.

We not only hear in prayer, but we can learn so much in the Scriptures. Please pray before you read the Scriptures so that the Holy Spirit will guide you. The amazing thing about God’s Word is that it always applies to your need at the time you need it. Need an answer it is there, need comfort it is there, need encouragement it is there, and when you need to know you are loved He shows He cares. When we read there will be times a certain Word may appear more important than it did before when you read the same Scripture. That means you are hearing Him as the Holy Spirit is guiding you in the Word, so read with purpose to find His purpose for you.

Now that you see two ways to hear Him there are other areas to see what He wants to work through in showing you His love. You may hear a song with lyrics that contain an answer. You may have a friend that calls or emails encouragement at a perfect time. Your path that day may have strangers speak, see answers on a billboard, or even hear a conversation between two others in a restaurant and words are shared you could use. These are just a few of the ways we hear if we will just listen.

Most important as you journey you will sense inside how much He loves you and that is the key. Know He loves you, cares for you and wants to guide you in His love.

Father, help me to learn to hear and trust Your ways. I know You love me and I thank You for that. Forgive me where I do not come to You at times, but also thank You for always being there when I do.
Thank You in Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
