Matthew 25:1-13 (NKJV)
1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
Are you prepared? We go through life preparing for daily things, yet are we prepared for where we will spend eternity? Jesus went to the cross for us because He loves us. He has also prepared a place for us when we are no longer on the Earth. Yet how many people are prepared? Once again look at the parable are you ready when He comes?
As we go through life we have opportunities to come to know Jesus. As we journey through this life we do not know when our last breath will be or when He will be coming. We cannot keep putting off accepting what He did for us. He paid the ultimate price for us, yet not all will accept and not all will be prepared.
Oh, there are things we do plan for, but not always for seeing all that He has for us. We pull out a daily planner but is there time for Him? We plan a work schedule yet do we schedule time with Him or just try to work Him in as needed? We spend days or weeks planning a vacation yet put off eternal plans thinking we have time.
Time may seem precious, but we must spend precious time with Jesus. When you do then you will realize you have more time than you think to get things accomplished. He loves you, yes understand that He loves you. He wants you to know He paid the price for you all because He loves you. Your acceptance of what He did for you is the only way to get to spend eternity with Him. So once again we are back to the question, “Are you prepared?”
