Caring for Others

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV)
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

We are at a time of year where so many have a list of people to buy gifts for that they care about. Are these same people on your prayer list? They have needs that go beyond wants. They have Spiritual needs if they do not know Jesus. They may have health needs that need a prayer and a touch of the Great Physician. As you look some may have a financial need where a new job is needed or encouragement in stewardship. Some may have drifted like a prodigal and need to get right with God, so they can find their way in life. Some may have a struggling marriage and need to put Jesus first in their marriage. Some may have lost a loved one this year and they may need to feel His love, His peace, and His comfort that only He can give. There may be other needs as you reflect that only you know and that you need to pray about.

Pray that others will come to know His love. You know Him, and He listens. Sometimes others will not realize their need to pray and as you pray for them you will know the comfort of handing the care over to Him. Also, to take this even deeper in your prayer life as you pray for the need of that one, also pray for others that have the same need that you do not know. God knows their name even though you do not, and He knows their need and it will be a blessing to you in your prayer time.

So, make a prayer list and treasure the gift of spending time with the Lord as you lift others up in prayer. What a blessing and gift from God that He cares and loves us so much.
