We are not asked to do it all, We are asked to give Him our all.
Psalms 119:9-16 (NKJV)
“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O LORD! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”
When you give Jesus your whole heart, He has so much to show you and share with you. The idea of giving your whole heart can be challenging, but it requires you to put Him first in all you do. In putting Him first you will see His direction and see all that He has for you. We see three words that start with the letter “W” so let us look at those. These three words are the keys to giving Him your whole heart.
The first “W” word is listening and trusting His Word. Do you spend time in the Scriptures? Do you pray before you read the Scriptures? Do you reflect upon the Scriptures? All these areas are important because they are encouraging, empowering, and enlightening Words to trust, follow and believe. The Scriptures give us hope whether we see a direction, an answer, or read of people in the Bible that we can relate to in the Old Testament or the New Testament. He shows us His love and Words that will show us direction.
The second “W” word is wander. Do not wander from His loving direction for your life. Trials, tests, turmoil, as well as setbacks should draw us closer to Him. His direction should lead us to give Him our whole heart so that we will know He always loves us. He is there always so we should always give Him our whole heart.
The third “W” is ways. We should always trust His ways for us. Ways of purpose, ways with His plans, ways with preparation, and ways that can be seen in prayer time. A prayer time needs to have no distractions. A prayer time that includes reading and listening for what He is showing us in His Scriptures. Also, as we look at all the things, He shows us in our journey we will see His love when we give Him our whole heart.
Have you given Him your whole heart? Have you drifted and need to repent because you have not listened and trusted Him? Have you tried things your way and have seen how short you have fallen? He gave His all for you, and He in turn wants all your heart. What a loving Father who sent His Son, a loving Son who went to the cross, and a loving Holy Spirit who intercedes for us in our prayer time. The power of His love is amazing so spend time with Him so you can see all He has to show you. You will see His ways when you give Him your whole heart and allow Him to show you all that He has for you.
Thank You for Your amazing love. Please forgive me where I did not seek You with my whole heart. I love You and thank You for loving us first. Thank You Jesus, Amen.
