Hope in His Power: His Word Provides Zeal

Hope in His Power: His Word Provides Zeal

Spending time with Jesus gives us the zeal we need.  His perfect love, His pure Words, and His prayers for us are all for us to receive into our heart.  A heart to love Him and love others.  He provides an unconditional love for us to receive and share.  We see in the story of the woman at the well, her willingness to share His love with others.  We will have that same zeal, as we spend time in the Scriptures and in prayer with the One who knows us so well.

Psalm 119:137-144 (NKJV)

…He deals with us rightly and just.

137 Righteous are You, O Lord, And upright are Your judgments.

…His Word shows us His faithfulness

138 Your testimonies, which You have commanded, Are righteous and very faithful.

…Your desire to love God will draw you to Him in prayer and in His Word.

139 My zeal has consumed me, Because my enemies have forgotten Your words.

…Psalm 69:9 (NKJV)—You will hurt like God because of your love for Him when others reject Him.

9 Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.

…Purity in His Word

140 Your word is very pure; Therefore Your servant loves it.

…Psalm 12:6 (NKJV) The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times.

…Psalm 19:7-10 (NKJV)

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

…Stand tall in faith as you remember Scriptures

141 I am small and despised, Yet I do not forget Your precepts.

142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.

…John 17:17 (NKJV)—Jesus prayer for His disciples

17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Delight in His Word

143 Trouble and anguish have overtaken me, Yet Your commandments are my delights.

…His Words are everlasting.  His love is everlasting.  When you accept Jesus, you have everlasting life.

144 The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting; Give me understanding, and I shall live.

Read all of John 4 and see the woman at the well meets Jesus.  In her meeting He tells her all about her in His knowing us all so well.  He knows you that well and we want to look and see how she went to tell others.  Jesus describes how the harvest is ready for the laborers and that is us sharing Jesus, just like the woman at the well.

John 4:28-42 (NKJV)

28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him. 31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” 33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.” 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of His own word. 42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

Oh, Heavenly Father:  Thank You for listening to my prayers, for providing Your Scriptures, and for meeting me where I am.  Please help me to have the zeal to share what You have done for me.  In doing so I pray that others will realize what Jesus did upon the cross for them also.  In Your Loving Name I pray Jesus, Amen.
