We do not always understand when we pray why we do not see instant results. In today’s world we see drive thru restaurants, eyeglasses in an hour, same day procedures, as well as an order online with next day delivery are just a few examples of today. God has plans for us in His perfect timing to bless us and for His Glory and that is not always immediately. Waiting can help us grow more in His love and our desire wanting Him more.
His will, not ours;
His plans, not ours;
His ways, not ours;
His timing, not ours;
And all for His Glory, not ours.
So, let us look at some supporting Scriptures to help encourage us in each of these areas.
His will, not ours…Hebrews 10:36 (NKJV)
36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
His plans, not ours…Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NKJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
His ways, not ours…Micah 4:1-2 (NKJV)
1 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it.2 Many nations shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths. “For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
His timing, not ours…1 Peter 5:6-11 (NKJV)
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
And all for His Glory, not ours…Philippians 4:19-20 (NKJV)
Father: We thank You for listening to our prayers as we lay our burdens and needs at Your throne. You are love and You have our best for us and that requires us waiting upon You at times. Please help us to walk in trust, as we see Your truth and promises revealed to us. To You be all the Glory! Amen.
