God Shows Us…Step 1…Prayer
““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 7:7-12 NKJV
Ask, Seek, and Knock are all our part of the relationship with God. He provides for all our needs and yet we do not always ASK. When we have a relationship with Jesus we begin to grow in His love. In turn as we grow in His love, we begin to want to share His love so in turn others will turn to Him also.
As we grow in His love, we realize we have talents we have been blessed with in our journey. We are all called to share our gifts and that we are to be good stewards with them. So that is why we need to pray. Praying opens your heart to be able to understand how, when, and where to share.
Asking will allow Him to point you where to share. Praying will help you understand you are doing it for His will and for Him to be glorified. You may think how can I use this in my church? In praying He will show you. New areas may be opening up, others may have been praying for a ministry to be added or your ministry may include others. He may be lining you up for His perfect timing. Your ministry could be an outreach opportunity. Not only an outreach with other church members but may include other members from other churches. We miss this area if we do not pray and ASK.
We ASK because He knows all we need to know. He may include others at area churches to allow your talents to be blended, but also a joint use of resources. It is all a gift from Him and that is why we seek Him.
By God pooling His people and resources it shows us to be in unity with Him, in unity in your church body, in unity with His body of believers and in turn this may allow others to see unity in your community. Our Father knows whom He has entrusted with what He has given. In turn He wants to give His direction.
You may also think I do not know how to reach out in a certain area and as you pray He may show you who He wants to pair you with on this mission. Oh yes, once again this leads us back to ASK Him in prayer. He may have given you the thought, the talents and/or the resources and He is waiting for you to ASK.
Yes, prayer is the key. ASK and He opens and be sure to listen. Listen to how, when and where and you will be blessed, others will be blessed and God will be blessed when we give Him all the glory.
So, ASK…Ask, Seek, Knock…He has a Purpose.
